Lots of updates and pics!!!

Good evening! Wow! Things sure have been busy here! I am sure it is like that for you too!
After working 6 days back to back, what do I get to do on my day off? Sit at the dentists’ office! I am sooo impatient and hate to wait! Ughhhh! I need a lot of work done, but for now it is going to have to wait! Thursday I was off and today I had to work. But I am off Saturday! Yippee! My daughter is in FFA and we are going to pick up her sheep! I can’t wait!
Ok back to yesterday! I got my hair cut!!! This was my 1st official hair cut since my hair started growing in!!! I have mixed feelings about it because I had lil curls in the back! I have never had naturally curly hair! It has always been straight as a board! So now it is all gone! Here is a pic! Let me know what ya think!



While I was at work today, my hubby painted our bed! He made this a while back when we got the new mattress. It is made from an old door. I just love it! He painted it black, but you can see the old wood and color showing through!
I have 2 different comforters. I was going to try and do a more mod look, but everyone says that it just doesn't match our house! Oh well! At least I got both of them for a very good price at Kohls! I think the patchwork quilt, I only paid like $22 for! And it is a king size and came with lil throw pillows and shams!
So anyway here are both looks!




Oh and I have been wanting to show this to yall for a while now! I bought this at a lil antique shop on the way home from Austin back in Jan.! It is an antique corn husker or shucker with the whole display! Your not going to believe the price! $48! I couldn't believe it! My hubby added the star on the front!



And here is a transom that we picked up back in Feb. when we got the door for our head board. My hubby left the chippy paint, but did use a lil wood glue to put it back together. I still need to paint the bottom shelf and the crown molding. So much to do and so lil time to do it! They have really been working me to death at Kohls!



I still am not done with it yet though as far as decorating. I want to add pip berries and lights and of course more stars! hehehe
So that is my update for this week! How was your week?

Test results! 3 month check up

I have good news and bad news! The good news is that my tests came back PERFECT! They can't find any cancer! They are still showing something on my left ovary, but it hasn't grown or changed. They think it is a cyst. No biggie! I have graduated also! Instead of going every 3 months I now go every 4 months! I was hoping it would be 6 months, but I am kinda glad there won't be that long of a stretch between visits. That way they can stay on top of any changes.
Now for the bad news. Not sure if you have heard of Furlow, I hadn't until hubby came home and told me. His job has been doing lay offs, cutting the fat, the ones that complained or lazy bad work habits ect. Well they don't want to cut any more people. So they offered a furlow. What this means is one week a month everyone will not work and not get paid. But what they did to help us out was work with the state by allowing the workers to file for unemployment for that week. So my hubby won't be getting his full check, but hopefully they won't take out as much in taxes, then with the unemployment check it will offset it and won't be that bad.
Another bit of good news is that I have been getting over 30 hours a week at Kohl's. So this is really helping. Not sure if I posted here on my blog before or not, but we did an owner finance on our old house (nightmare!) and she hasn't paid us in almost 4 months! So we have been dealing with 2 house notes and ins. too for the past 3 months. God got me through cancer and I know he will get us through this too! I just keep praying. In fact on the way to work, after hubby told me about the furlow, I was praying for God to help us. I got to work was telling one of my bosses about the situation, the next thing ya know my other boss (the one that does the schedules) called my phone and asked me if I would like to work Sunday! WOW! God works fast huh? So that is 6 extra hours! Next week I was supposed to have off 3 days, that was the 1st time in a while, but now I have 2 days off. Oh well! A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do! hehehe
So that is why I haven't been able to post much.
Back a few weeks ago, hubby n me got out and played around with a flowerbed. I bought some flower seeds and they are popping up! I need to run out and snap some pics. We put some of my antiques out there. Like my lil shopping basket and lil wagon. I can't wait to see the flowers bloom! Be looking for pics. I will try and get some before I go to work today at 1pm.

Lil Goats!

I have been reading all the blogs and trying to catch up! Tuesday I was off and decided to take my projects outside to stuff while hubby mowed the yard. Well, 3 hours later, I was sunburned! Of course the next day I had to work a 9 hour shift! That was horrible! I am so crispy fried! I will have to take pics tomorrow of how bad it is! I know I know! I should of worn sunblock! Ughhh!
Anyway, Easter we went to my Brother in laws house. Had a great time! Then we went to my nieces future FIL's house. He has 150 goats! They were so cute! There were a lot that were born that week! There was only 1 lil black n white one! That was my fav! Sooo adorable! There was also a lil tiny one in the barn that nibbled my ear! Here are some pics

Hidden Treasure!

I have been meaning to share this with ya! This is an old crock that my hubby purchased for me years back. It was painted yellow. I hated it! Well since moving to our new home, it was put into our storage building. A while back I had come across it and noticed blue stripes peeking out from behind the yellow paint. I asked my hubby if he had any acetone to take off the paint. He didn't, so the next trip to Home Depot he bought some. This was to become his next project! When he finally got all the yellow paint off I was soooo excited to see it! I finally had an old crock!!! Well I already did, but just didn't know it!!!

16 yrs Today

Today is a sad, but happy day. My mom passed away from melanoma cancer. I am happy that she is in a better place and no more pain. I still miss her laugh and her lil smile. I feel her with me almost on a daily basis. I wished she were still here with me, as she was where I got my creative side from. I wished she had gone to MD Anderson and gotten cured of her cancer. She was only 43. That is so scary because I will be 41 this year and have already had my brush with cancer. They say time heals all wounds, but the hurt doesn't go away.

Tornados touched down!

all around us last night! There were tornado warnings, but just before they hit here, it knocked out our satelite! Hubby was checking outside and opened our front door and the wind was blowing so hard he had a hard time shutting the door. He told the girls to come downstairs. The temp dropped here from 70's to 40's so quick. Our swing he just put up not long ago was blown into the woods edge. Our shutter on the front of our house was blown off and unrepairable and an oak tree was blown over by our pond. This we actually got more damage than Ike this time. Other than we lost more trees during Ike. Then after it was all said and done, at about 12am we lost power for 2 1/2 hours! Felt like Ike all over again! I have to go to work, but I took some pics. I haven't heard the news yet as to what damage it caused in our area.
It was scary because it was dark and you couldn't see what was going on.
